CLIENT: VICTORIAN MANAGED INSURANCE AUTHORITY (VMIA)
VMIA had a number of templates that did not work properly and needed a redesign. The main problems with their templates were that they were not formatted correctly and did not include comprehensive text styles. The templates also contained macros that malfunctioned after an internal system upgrade. This made them difficult and, in some cases, impossible to use.
The image above features some of the Word report and stationery templates we created as part of a larger suite of corporate templates for use in Word and PowerPoint.
We undertook a requirements study to find out how staff used the templates. We then created a new Normal.dotx template which was deployed on all PCs. This meant that all new documents based on that template contained all the VMIA brand elements including fonts, typographic styles, and colour palette.
We also used custom fields and content controls in the templates, so the user only had to enter, for example, the document title or client name once and see it reflected throughout the rest of the document.
The final Word template suite included 18 generic and specialised templates including:
- Landscape and portrait reports
- Stationery items such as agenda, facsimile, CEO newsletter, memo, minutes and letterhead
- PowerPoint presentation
