UXC Professional Solutions needed a new PowerPoint presentation template that could be used for six different service areas within the company. We created the template design using client-supplied InDesign files.

Each service area which had its own colour palette and background graphic. Theoretically, we could have created one presentation template containing six layouts – one for each of the service areas – and their accompanying master slides. The user could easily select the appropriate layout/colour via the New Slide button. It was a tidy solution for a project that would include up to 90 slides.

However, six layout variations with multiple slides can be unwieldy in one template. It can also be confusing for the user. After discussing options with the client, we decided that one presentation template for each service area was probably easier all round. The end users had low-level PowerPoint skills, so we wanted to keep things simple.

Each template contained the following:

• A total of 16 master slides
• 12 title and chapter master slides (2 layouts with 6 embedded image variations)
• 4 content master slides (heading/sub-heading with text/image/chart content place-holders)
