This folio piece features a government agency PowerPoint template we created as part of a corporate template suite. Our client, a State Government insurance provider, had a number of templates that did not work properly and needed re-designing.

The main problems with the templates were that they were not formatted correctly and did not include comprehensive text styles. The templates also contained macros that malfunctioned after upgrading MS Office. This made them difficult to use. Staff members began using their own ‘templates’ and this led to branding irregularities and guidelines problems.

Firstly, we undertook a requirements study to find out how staff used the templates and what problems they were having with producing documents. Then we created a new Normal.dotx. and helped the client deploy on it all staff PCs. All new documents based on that template would now contain all the client’s brand elements. These elements included fonts, typographic styles, and colour palette.

We also utilised custom fields and content controls in the templates. Consequently, the user only had to enter information once and see it reflected throughout the rest of the document. The final template suite of approximately 18 generic and specialised templates included the following:
