Update the Table of Contents

Word uses the various heading styles in a document to create a Table of Contents (also known as TOC or Contents). The TOC will change if you, e.g., edit headings, add/delete pages, etc. To update the Table of Contents:

  • Right-click anywhere in the Contents and select Update Field.

  • Choose either Update page numbers only or Update entire table.
  • Click OK.
