Save as Template

When you open a Word template, it creates a new file titled ‘Document1 – Word’. If you modify this document and want to use it as a template for new docs, you need save it as a template:

  • Click on the File tab, then select Save As.

  • Click the Browse button

  • At File name, rename your template then …

  • … under Save as type, select Word Template (*.dotx) and click the Save button

Word will save the template to the Custom Office Templates folder.

  • You can access your new template via File tab then New (or CTRL+N). It will appear under the Personal tab.
