Access the Header & Footer

There are two ways to access the header or footer area in Word.

1. The easiest way to access the header and footer is to simply double-click anywhere along the top (or bottom) of the document page.

When you have made your changes, close the header/footer area by double-clicking anywhere in the document.

2. You can also access the header/footer through the Ribbon. Click the Header (or Footer) down arrow in the Header & Footer group on the Insert tab. Select Edit Header from the menu.
You can now access the Header (or Footer).

3. Close the header by clicking the Close Header and Footer button on the Design tab of the Header & Footer Tools.

Use the Close Header and Footer button to exit the header area.
